Gatorball is a game played all around the world. It is a mixture of team handball and soccer. The origins of the this game are quite vague, but it seems to be derived from Celtic ball. It seems to be more prevalent in Eastern Europe. Rules are as follows.

Scoring: The ball can be scored by one of three methods: (the entire ball must cross the entire line)

1 Throwing, worth 1 point.

The ball may be tapped in by player being touched by two hands. The ball may not be thrown if being touched. Any arm motion will be regarded as a throw and the goal negated. 

2 Kicking, worth 2 points

Drop kicks must hit the ground before struck by the foot.

3 Header, worth 3 points

The throw or kick must come from someone else. You can not throw the ball off your own head or kick it up and head it in by yourself.

Handling with hands:

   The ball can only be handled by hands in one of these circumstances.

 1 Ball is kicked by anyone and goes directly from foot to hands.

 2 Ball is rebounded off of another person's body and while still in the air, can be played with hands. There is no playing of the ball to yourself. It must come off another person's foot or body. 

 3 The player who is deemed as the goalie can play the ball with their hands anywhere behind the goal and within a 20' semicircle in front of the goal. Once the goalie makes advancement out of the semicircle he is deemed a normal player and may be touched. In cases of outdoor play and line is not present if the goalie moves forward in the striking manner, he becomes a regular player and can be touched. Refer to goalie section for goalie replacement methods.

 4 As in rule 1.and 2. If the ball is played off another person's body and off a wall, the ball may be played with hands. 

 5 The ball may not be played forward to another member of the same team after possessing player is touched down with two hands. The ball may be played on by the player touched, but may not be passed to another player of the same team.

 6 The ball may not be thrown into the air and caught again to avoid being tagged by the opposing team. 

Ball must be dropped back to the ground after one is touched by a member of the opposing team by a two handed touch. In the event that there is no official present, the person making the two handed tag must yell down. Only the person tagging the opponent may yell down.

Illegal usage of hands can and should result in public stoning.

Goalie: The goalie must follow rules stated in handling rules 3. A goalie may be switched out at any point. No verbal signal is needed. The player taking place of the goalie needs only to stand in front of the goal and the other player relinquishes his role of goalie

Restart of play: Play begins immediately after a goal is scored. The ball is put back into play as soon as either the goalie makes a pass or moves outside of his designated area. The goalie is the only player able to restart game.

Fouls: All reasonable violence is tolerated. While the ball is on the ground however, soccer/football rules apply. Holding opposing players is also frowned upon.

Playing Field: Field can be of any size. 6'x6' goals are preferred due to the ability to throw the ball. There are no touch lines, or in other words there is no out of bounds.

Ball: Ball is preferably smaller. Size three soccer ball is the most desirable. This makes for easier handling with the hands and greater ease in scoring due to the smaller nature of the goals.
