User:Igor the Lion/Userbio

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Igor the Lion is a Wikipedia user, a pessimistic optimist (or optimistic pessimist), currently resides in Munich, Germany (and also in Manila, Philippines). He is a Latin lover, Harry Potter fan, writer, scientist and mathematician, violinist, a "computer expert" (only knows Flash), and so on and so forth.

Existence in Wikipedia

[edit]

First and foremost, Igor is a lion, so his very existence in Wikipedia is very questionable, unless you consider the possibilities that either Igor is not a mountain lion (which he, sadly, is), a human being is using Igor's name as his own username (which is not unlikely), or that Igor himself is typing out this article from a parallel universe where mountain lions replaced humans as the only intelligent species on Earth (which is also not unlikely, though unverifiable). The probability of each case is rather high, and also rather low, depending on how you look at it. But, in the end, we must remember: De gustibus non est disputandum.

Nature

[edit]

They say that Nature abhors a vacuum. Wikipedia, it seems, is unfortunately not possessed by the same horror vacui that Nature has, and Wikipedians gladly zap seemingly unimportant articles whenever they get the chance (perhaps due to lack of things to do?), thus increasing the vacuum of articles that could/should/would have been written. Igor the Lion, because he is a lion, is quite natural, in contrast to Wikipedia, which is artificial; ergo, Igor the Lion abhors vacuums, q.e.d. He thus takes the trouble to complete articles on seemingly unimportant though notable people in the unpublicized corners of the world, e.g. the Philippines (which doesn't give an iota about classical music).

Misc.

[edit]

Igor the Lion loves paradox, but hates being in one. He has repeatedly tried to disprove Zeno's Paradox, with varying levels of success each time. This is mostly due to short-term memory loss, which also explains why he always forgets the quadratic formula, and consequently has to derive it each time he plans to use it. But as Igor is a lion, he can't be expected to do maths, can he? (Nice paradoxical paragraph.) [N.B. As of December 25, 2005, Igor the Lion has been training himself to understand calculus. He still insists, however, that even with the arrival of infinitesimals, Zeno's Paradox remains, well, a paradox.]

You can reach me at my talk page. I now have an email add., so if you have anything important or private to say, or if you just want to say "hi", don't hesitate to write me. Some people do. Maybe they're afraid that I'll gobble them up. :(

Anyway, g'day to y'all!
