I started contributing to Wikipedia as part of an attempt to find Creative Commons licensed films and make them more easy to find. One thing I do, is improving the film's Wikipedia pages if they exist.

Searching info on tags or templates and stuff doesn't seem to go well on the Wikipedia search engine, so I use an external engine, e.g. to look up info on the "Internet Archive film" template

Using archived links

Changing a dead link to an archived version on Archive.org

status is either "dead" or "live". When marked "live" the primary link will be the original, and vice versa.

Tags to use/add

These are typical tags who can be relevant for CC licensed works.

VODO template

This can be added to pages of films released on VODO. It shows a box on the page with the pages with VODO films. Note that you have to adapt the template as well to include the page you added it to, it's not automatic.

Add the following tag, I do it after "External links" and before the Categories. See e.g. Us_Now

Then change the template Template:VODO. It seems ordered by release date.

There's also a VODO page VODO with a list of films. I consider the banner enough, otherwise it's double work. The list may be useful for extra information.

In case it seems relevant to add a link to the VODO page in the External links section, here's an example

Upload a file

Typically to serve as the primary means of visual identification at the top of the article dedicated to the work in question. Left of the Wikipedia page "Upload file" > choose if it's free content or not and fill in properly.

An example non-free file is [[File:DVD_cover_for_the_2007_film_Exhibit_A.jpeg]] used in Exhibit_A_(film).
