Analysis and evaluation

[edit]

We shall employ the method of dialectics in the form of reductio ad absurdum.

First of all, we shall list out the facts, the chain of events.

  • RJII revealed the existence of project during his second arbitration, when several measures were taken against him.
  • He has been blocked repeatedly from wikipedia. On one occasion, he told the blocking administrator, "Might as well make it a lifetime ban".
  • An arbitration case involving him is currently set to give him a one year ban. He revealed the "details" of his project a few days after 4 arbitrators voted to ban him for one year.

There are two possible general cases to consider. Either RJII is lying, or RJII is telling the truth. We shall consider the latter first, as it is the more complicated case.

RJII claims his account was created solely to intimidate people, and that "most of our edits were... through multiple "sockpuppets"". This is contrary both to his edit count and to his edit content.

RJII says that most of his actions were by other, more covert, means. But what reason does he have to reveal that, especially if nobody suspects it? Doing so would only expose "the project" to unnecessary attack. An intelligent move would be to pack up without revealing the ends of the project, so that it cannot be countered. RJII claims stealth, but his actions are anything but. He is loud and provocative, and his final comments are the most visible yet. These are not the actions of one who is used to trickery and stealth.

His front page said "to be announced shortly" for nearly six months. This is also inconsistent from the structure and organisation that the project is claimed to have. Indeed, why reveal the existence of the project in the first place? If the RJII Project was working well, why reveal its existence 6 months before the end? This spontaniety suggests an incoherency, or lack of organisation in the project, again, contradictory to what is claimed.

While RJII has succeeded in driving a few off wikipedia, he has failed to drive others. Indeed, some of his actions (such as revealing the existence of the "project") have made those users even more determined to resist his POV pushing.

Any major content that he may have inserted into the encyclopedia using sockpuppets would have been spotted and dealt with. Editors (especially the anti-RJII editors who have been exposed to this sort of crap for years) are not idiots; they can tell whether an edit is POV or not.

Looking through RJII's past history, he has always had a desire for attention. Whenever he has been blocked, he has kicked up a big fuss. This is especially uncalculative and not one bit secretive. We shall conclude that RJII does not keep his temper well. But such behaviour could have disastrous consequences for the RJII project - another inconsistency.

RJII attacks people who try to become administrators, saying they are "of a lower intelligence". Yet, in [email 1] below, he claims there are some administrators who are part of the project. Are they "of a lower intelligence"?

So, we have seen that the assumption "RJII is telling the truth" leads to several inconsistencies. What of the opposite assumption, that "RJII is lying"? Does that lead us to contradictions? Let us see.

So, the inconsistencies in a nutshell:

  • RJII claims account is solely used for intimidation, but his account has made tons of edits.
  • RJII claims stealth project, but he has revealed this project.
  • RJII claims organisation, but he has had "to be announced" on his page for 6 months.
  • RJII claims success in driving users away, but many remain and are active.
  • RJII claims widespread sockpuppetry, but none have been detected.
  • RJII claims to be calculating, but his reactions to blocks are highly explosive.
  • RJII claims to be affiliated with some admins, but ridicules people who "try to become administrators".

We will now try to find the simplest possible explanation, as per Occam's Razor, to explain these inconsistencies.

Because of the sheer number and scale of the inconsistencies, it might be plausible to conclude that they have been made up on the spot. This then leads to the question, why? Why would RJII make up such crap? To answer this question, we look back at the events.

An arbitration case he currently involved with (RFAR:Infinity0) is most likely to result in him being banned for one year. The voting is currently 4-1; the 3rd "support" arbitrator voted at 15th june, the 4th "support" arbitrator voted at 20 June. At 02:24, 16 June 2006, RJII made his first edit to his user page for a while, revealing the first details about the project.

We now go back to his second arbitration case, which was brought against him sometime in Dec 2005. On 2006-01-02 01:01:59, his accuser, User:Firebug, quits wikipedia. At 08:07, RJII reveals the existence of the project on his user page.

So the basic two events:

  • Firebug quits, RJII claims project's existence. Perhaps this is meant as a victory celebration?
  • RJII is all set up to be banned, RJII makes up (quite impressive actually, shows an active imagination) a wild story. I guess this is a last ditch attempt to make something of his time on wikipedia.

Take no notice of it. Already, the very worst of his edits are being undone. If he has sockpuppets, the types of edit he makes are so obvious that he will not be able to edit without revealing their identity, and then they will be blocked immediately.

It pays to have accomplices in high places. Any attempt to overturn your block will fall on deaf ears. You will continue to be manipulated by our sock puppets and adminstrators who are part of the RJII Project.

(Note: I was unblocked at around 9pm. I guess the deaf ears got cured.)
