This is a COI declaration. I intend to contribute content to Wikipedia in a knowledge area where I have financial interests and a commercial role.

Specifically, I intend to write about an area variously called "multi-lateral barter", "managed barter" and other such terms.

(Note: These are common-use terms referring to businesses that organize into groups to buy and sell their surplus goods and services to each other using a mutually-agreed common medium of exchange--a type of dollar-denominated trade credits typically called "trade dollars".)

I intend to write as best I can generically from a neutral point of view on the subject of managed barter and understand that my contributions will be closely scrutinized from a COI standpoint.

I believe I can achieve the required neutrality because of my professional background. I spent more than 30 years as a B2B writer and editor. Often I contributed articles to business and technical magazines on behalf of my clients (with editors' full knowledge of the affiliation). Therefore I had to write on subjects from a carefully defined neutral standpoint or the publication editors would have hacked apart my work. My clients included a number of Fortune 500 companies (none pertaining to my planned content contributions here).

At present, I don't intend to name my company in any contributed content and will seek to avoid any unacceptable bias or slant.

If in the future I do seek to mention my company, I will make special note of the potential COI, and reference my company by name in this personal profile.

Otherwise, I prefer not to involve my company by name even on this page. (It is one of the larger privately held firms in my industry.) If you need to know it, pls contact me and I'll email you the name and URL. Or, if you require, I'll post it here.

I co-founded this company in 1Q05 and have been involved in the business fulltime ever since. Another co-founder helped launch the modern managed barter industry in the United States and is a "walking encyclopedia" on this subject. I draw freely from his knowledge as well as my own.

Please let me know if you need more details on my background and/or affiliations in order to evaluate my future content from a COI standpoint.

If there are any other COI disclosures you require, please let me know. Thank you.
