User:Jéské Couriano/Remedy Count

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page is little more than a percentile amount of which sorts of sanctions are recommended by the Committee.

This page was originally written on September 10, 2009 and is updated whenever a case is decided. In-camera Arbitrations are not counted, nor are cases dismissed w/o action. Courtesy-blanked cases' remedies are noted, as are amendments to the case and motions. All remedies are counted, even those added later via amendment.

If I have missed any remedies (incl. amendments and motions), feel free to point them out on my talk page or this subpage's TP.

The most recent counted case (as of May 27, 2024) is TMM.

Methodology

The numbers arrived at in this page were taken by adding together all the sanctions inposed by the Arbitration Committee, rather than summarizing each case. This is to ensure that all the sanctions in a case are noted rather than the case summarized.

The sorts of remedies sorted out are classified as follows:

  • Editing Restrictions: Any remedy that imposes editing restrictions or paroles on any editor(s), including article probation and discretionary sanctions.
  • Bans: Any remedy that either partially (topic-bans) or in full (site bans) revokes a user's ability to edit Wikipedia, or limits their use of alternate accounts, including automated ones. Includes endorsements of community-enacted indefinite bans.
  • Rebukes: Any remedy that is effectively a rebuke or criticism without enforcement. Admonishments, urges, cautions, reminders, etc., etc. all fall under Rebukes.
  • Desysops: Any remedy that either strips a user of his or her priveleged tools (administrative, bureaucrat, and the like) or prevents a user who surrendered their bit willingly in the middle of a case from regaining it immediately afterwards (i.e. "FOO gave up his tools under controversial circumstances[...]").
  • Mentorships: Any remedy that places a user under a mentorship.
  • Remands: Any remedy remanding action on something to the Community.
  • Restraining Orders: Any remedy that expressly forbids one user from contacting or editing in the same topic area as another user.
  • Amnesties: Any remedy forgiving (a) party(/ies) for their wrongdoing.
  • Other: Any remedy that doesn't fit into any of the categories above.

The above totals will be continually edited; they are at present accurate as of the most recent Arbitration case. All percentiles are rounded to the nearest tenth of a percentage point; as such they may not total 100% exactly. If you feel that I have neglected to count a remedy, contact me as outlined above.
