On October 14, 1990, he became the last player to record 5 touchdown receptions in a single game.

Jerry Rice's team has never been shut out in regular season or the playoffs. Rice is the only player with 17+ years experience to never experience being on a team that was shut out.

He is currently the only player in the post NFL/AFL merger era to gain a single-season major offensive title with an output double that of the number two man. His 22 touchdown catches in 1987 were twice that of Mike Quick's 11.
