Kate Moore (1979-Present) is a British author that was born in Northampton, England, she writes a variation of different genres that are considered influential in our society. Kate, the author of The Radium Girls, won best selling award for New York Times and USA today in 2017. To illustrate a vulnerable population of women that are always trying to fight for their rights and freedom, Kate wrote The Woman They Could Not Silence that received publication on June 22, 2021 (Quinn, 2021). These women have been dismissed in history for decades and disregarded. A tribute to women everywhere around the world to find strength through The Radium Girls book.  Kate embellishes the reality of what women went through in history through painting a description of writing the books The Radium Girls & The Woman They Could Not Silence.

The Radium Girls was the winner of the 2017 Good Reads Choice Award for Best History. She always strived to become a successful writer. Moore studied English Literature at the University of Warwick in Coventry, England. She then became an editorial director at Penguin Random House UK and some of her authors included John Barrowman, Chris Tarrant, Francesca Martinez, and many more. In 2008, she had her first Sunday Times bestseller in The Lover’s Book which was later republished as Roses Are Red. On July 4th, 2014, Moore became a freelance editor, author, and ghost writer. She immediately had commissions to write four books. Over the next three years, Moore would write eleven books, and many of these books become Sunday Times bestsellers. Two of her most successful books are The Radium Girls and The Women They Could Not Silence.

Kate Moore is also well known for her book series entitled Felix the Railway Cat. This series is nonfiction (as is the bulk of Moore’s work) and features the close knit bond between a cat and his respective community. Many of her books focusing on Felix also include images of him! Moore has also ghostwritten several True Crime novels, as per her website. One of her most prolific True Crime novels is Catching a Serial Killer by Stephen Fulcher.

Kate Moore Accomplishments: Voted U.S librarians favorite non-fiction book in 2017 for The Radium Girls. Kate Moore was selected for Emma Watson’s My Shared Shelf feminist book club. Additionally, the American Library Association recongized her for Notable Nonfiction Book in 2018. Award for the 2021 Booklist Editor’s Choice. Kate Moore shares her knowledge and continues to write impactful stories that are influential for women and feminists.

Kate Moore Lecure: Kate Moore on March 13th, 2023 joined the Women’s Institute at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. She was a keynote speaker and discussed in detail providing us her journey of the book she wrote, The Woman They Could Not Silence. She continues to inspire women globally to fight for there rights and, to speak up to let there voices be heard in society. Kate Moore was very pleasant and uplifting when speaking to the Women’s Institute Ambassadors and Russell Sage College faculty before presenting her lecture.
