Early Life
[edit]Dawn McClelland Wilson was born on August 24th 2001 in Santa Cruz, California. He later moved to Oregon with his mother Catherine Elizabeth Wilson, and his father DeWayne Daishawn Whalen. It was in Oregon, that Dawn would soon discover his love for music and dance.
Education
[edit]Dawn graduated from Corvallis High School in 2019, and went on to attend at Western Oregon University where he majored in Dance, ultimately leading to his love for performing and rocketing him into the music industry.
Career
[edit]Although best known for his music, Ja Boi began his career in Dance long before ever considering making music. After studying Hip-hop Dance for over 10 years and dancing for several Companies and studios including S-Rank and Millennium Dance Complex, he felt that the music he would dance to was calling out to him and decided to dive head first into songwriting and creating music of his own.
With the eventual release of his song Face Down, Ja Boi went on to sign a record deal with Universal Music Group with whom he later released his first studio album Fear Sold Separately.
