Maghi kokil Jairam singh was an outstanding scholar and great poet of hindi and maghi. His versatility is well known to all of us as he was the champion of hindi and maghi verse writing and he also got his masterly command over tabla under the able guidance of pandit Anokhe lal. It is very surprising that he was also selected by prithvi raj kapoor as a hero and lyricist for his studio but his father denied for very work, remarking that it was not good and prestigious job for any cultured and reputed family at that time.

He was born on 8- August-1928, at his maternal village bhadseni, nawada, bihar although, he belonged to karisowa, wazirganj gaya, bihar. His father late Ram Hari Singh was an affluent peasant and his mother late Dharmsheela Devi was a highy religious lady and a perfect house wife but he didn't get his motherly love and affection during his childhood as his mother passed away when he was three years old only. He was brought up by his uncle late Rambalak singh and late Sumitra devi. He was an exemplary and renowned principal at nawada and gaya for more than 30 years.
