Vernon Layton BSC - Director of Photography is a UK based Director of Photography for feature films, TV and commercials.

He started in fashion photography and worked through an illustrious period shooting light entertainment, studio dramas, and pop programmes at LWT, during what has now become known as the golden era of British TV. For many years, he was one of the top five most sought after commercial’s DoPs in London and Europe. He worked with Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Adrian Lyne, and a whole new generation of ground-breaking commercials directors.

He went on to light and shoot TV series and feature films in the UK and USA, a number of which have risen to become cult classics. He continues to collaborate with filmmakers worldwide, in the capacity of Cinematographer and occasionally as an Associate Producer. He is a member of IATSE LOCAL 600 in the USA, BECTU, GBCT, British Society of Cinematographers, and the AOP – Association of Photographers, UK.

His son, James Layton, is a UK based camera and Steadicam operator and they continue to work together.
