Spear[edit]

Spear is a fictional character and the protagonist from the animated television series “Primal”, Created by Genndy Tartakovsky. The series follows Spear’s journey as he faces multiple challenges of surviving in a violent and brutal prehistoric world alongside his unlikely companion, Fang.

Background[edit]

Spear is a skilled caveman who lives peacefully with his family before the tragic event that left him heartbroken and shattered when a pack of dinosaurs attacked his family. Making him the sole survivor from the event driven by grief and anger, Spear seeks revenge for the sake of his heart and starts on a relentless quest to hunt down the creatures responsible for his suffering.

Appearance[edit]

As an adult neanderthal (Caveman), Spear had a rugged, Strong physique and primate-like traits. He had long, shaggy black hair and thick eyebrows, long sharp teeth, and was covered in large amounts of body hair. Spear had a very large, muscular physique. His arms and legs were extra wide comparing to the rest of his body. As far as clothing went, Spear was usually seen wearing a brown cloth, though in "A Cold Death"[1] episode, he killed a woolly mammoth and makes a fur coat from its hide. After drinking the black liquid in "Rage of the Ape Men"[2] episode, Spear experienced a huge growth spurt in which he is now bigger and more muscular than Krog. His body also underwent individual changes: he possesses a bulging forehead, his teeth grow semi-sharper, his skin changes to blue, and his eyes turn bloodshot red just like Krog's. In "Echoes of Eternity" [3], after the Viking Chief mortally wounds him, nearly all of Spear's skin had melted off or was brutally burned. His nose, lips, ears, eyebrows, and hair had been burnt/fallen off, and was left almost unrecognizable due to several burns.

Personality[edit]

Spear is characterized by his stoicism[4] and life in the face of difficulties. Silent[5] for much of the series, he communicates through his actions, which speak volumes about his loyalty and determination. Despite the traumas he has suffered, Spear retains a sense of honor and morality, often putting himself in harmful ways to protect those he cares about.
