Hi Jasz!

Welcome to the virtual classroom.

I hope you enjoy it here.

Some questions for you...

[edit]

In order to gauge how rigorous your training should be, and to determine what areas to focus upon, I've got some questions for you:

How much time do you spend on Wikipedia (per week)?

about 7 hours

What have you learned to do so far on Wikipedia?

I can't remeber all of them. I know something about vandals and to fight them.

What areas do you work on the most these days?

mainly on spellchecking and deletion of bad things from articles.

What areas are you most interested in learning about?

anything good.

What subjects are you most interested in within the encyclopedia? They can be general or specific. (e.g., Geography, dogs, Joan of Arc, etc.).

countries,scientists etc.
Are you familiar with Linus Pauling? Who is your favorite scientist? -TT 18:12, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

That should be enough to get started. I'll have some more for you based upon your answers to the above. Cheers. The Transhumanist   10:34, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

An observation: you need to focus on the general assignments listed above. The Transhumanist    18:23, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Assignments for Jasz

[edit]
  • Be sure to check the general assignments section above. Those are just as important as the ones I'll be posting here...

Based on your level of participation and experience, my feeling is that your efforts would be best applied in working on articles.

With respect to countries, are you familiar with these:

Category:Country list templates

And with respect to scientists, are you familiar with these pages:

I've not given you extra tasks yet, as you're yet to finish the above. --Dweller 11:21, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

More questions...

[edit]

I note that you are on break, which is fine and probably a good idea for many of us. I notice that you do some editing for typo's and such, so when you return, please think about the following:

I'm happy to be back.

How would you approach an article that is lengthy but in need of being wikified and cleaned up?

I really don't know , I will try to make it better or I will ask help of others.
See Wikipedia:Glossary. Wikification basically means to format it like a Wikipedia article, using our standard headings, list formats, etc., and especially linking key terms to their respective articles! -TT
Knowing this, now what would you do with such an article? -TT 17:50, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
I still don't know.

As you know, many people are English speakers but the language has many variant spellings depending on a user's nationality. How would you select proper spellings?

But we are considered American or British English.
-TT
Please answer the question again.  ;-) -TT
I will consider the topic.

How would you reply to an editor upset that you copy edited "his" article?

How can he be upset!
Most importantly, remain as cool as a cucumber. Then calmly discuss the matter and explain the applicable rules. Whatever you do, do not engage in an edit war! Consensus is arrived at by being flexible and making suggestions until both sides find one they mutually agree on. -TT
So, to rephrase the question, here's a sample message that you have hypothetically received (please answer it below):
Hey you son of a bitch! You changed my article! I worked all night on that, and you removed a whole section! Who the hell do you think you are???!!!!! I've put it back, so keep your filthy hands off it! -In your face! 17:50, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
I am really nervous in editing wikipedia. I am afraid of making a mistake. No one will be happy hearing such a reply!
Good luck. (And don't hesitate to search the Help and Wikipedia namespaces to look this stuff up. It's all included in Wikipedia's help pages somewhere. And because there are so many redirects created to assist, a search will usually find it easily). The Transhumanist    17:54, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Which assignments have you completed from the general assignments section above? -TT

all except internal and external interface.--JasZZZ Talk · Sign here 07:48, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
