Kate McGill Kate Laura McGill (born March 10, 1990),[1] [2] is a singer-songwriter from the UK. She currently has almost 20 million upload views on YouTube,[3] which has served as the launching point for her music career.

Background

Kate was born in Carmarthen, Wales to Joanna and Rory McGill. Kate describes her parents as "ridiculously supportive and lovely."[2] She has one sister, Victoria, and two brothers, Stephen and Nick. Kate describes her childhood as "relatively lovely" and states that it was "nothing out of the ordinary."[2] Kate currently lives in Plymouth, South West England, where she studied Theatre and Performance at the University of Plymouth for a year before dropping out to concentrate on her musical career.

Career

Kate McGill rose to popularity through YouTube, where she currently has over 110,000 subscribers.[3] She's used her Youtube fame to focus full-time on her music career, previously quitting her job at Zara, a popular clothing store. She is currently unsigned, but managed by Charlie Arme.[4] Kate is working on her first album, while touring England. Harriet Davies, of The Big Issue recently wrote that "her folk-inspired music already invites comparisons with this year’s favourite Ellie Goulding."[5]
