My name is Jiyoon Hwang(You guys can call me Jenny). I was born in Goyang (just a step away from Seoul), South Korea. I studied bachelor of science in Industrial Safety at Eulji-University in South Korea. I had attended Edmonds Community College as an international student for 2 quarters in 2014. After studying at Edmonds Community College, I went back to South Korea to finish my degree. I came back to United states in 2014 and now I became a student in Everett Community College. I am so glad to be a student again, because I want to pave my career with studying something new to me. All I do everyday is studying and working. This makes me bored sometimes. So, when I do have free time, I definitely go somewhere to get away.
This user is a student editor in Wikipedia:Wiki_Ed/Everett_Community_College/English_Composition_3740_(Winter). Student assignments should always be carried out using a course page set up by the instructor. It is usually best to develop assignments in your sandbox. After evaluation, the additions may go on to become a Wikipedia article or be published in an existing article. |
Article Critique
[edit]I visited the samgyeopsal page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: dead links, citations for advertisements and unreliable links.
Dead links
[edit]When I saw the references page, I realized that there is no information I was looking for. I tried to find “Hansik, Must-Eat Foods” that is able to take me to Seoul official site; however, what I found out was just a dead link. Seemingly, the web page tries to explain about “The food I should eat in South Korea”, such as “Crab Pot in Seattle” although I was not able to find any link.
Citations for advertisement
[edit]If you go through the article, you will be able to find out “Palsaek Samgyupsal” is as one of the brand names of food in South Korea. Clicking a link “The new colour thing: Korean rainbow pork” will put you through to a web page “The star newspaper, Malaysia”. Which looks so unrelated to the link’s original title. It refers to an advertisement for “Palsaek Samgyupsal” located in Malaysia. It is a business approach for the brand. In my opinion, advertisements should not be used as citations in the Wiki article.
Unreliable links
[edit]Links on the reference page have led me to an unreliable blog written by a freelancer. One of the pages could not connect into it unless you log into Naver, the Korean Portal. Many Wikipedia users might accept information with subjective blogs.
Summary
[edit]It is quite difficult to evaluate this article only based on my opinion. However, I would like to give it a low evaluation rate because the reference page is connected to unreliable sources that its absence of correlation. I think that it is a lack of credibility to deliver the one subjective perspective only other than various aspects in South Korea. Moreover, Every link leads me to one review of many restaurants which I have not even heard of. It has not been updated for last few years. The food trend in South Korea must have been changed a lot; therefore, I would like to give them a little suggestion to update latest articles on Wikipedia.
