Douglas Monroe was an early associate of Timothy Drew, whom he met at a circus performer in 1905. Douglas also met Marcus Garvey in 1910-1914 on his first trip to South America (where he first encounters the Amazonian Mind and learns that he has a destiny). He may also have been an early convert of Wallace Fard Muhammad's, founder of the Nation of Islam. (Fard vanished in 1933.)
