Dresden was a Western Australian electronic music act, formed in 1991 and essentially defunct by 1996. Dresden were a virtual band (see for example Gorrilaz), although they were reported to have toured Perth in the mid '90s.

Name

The neutrality of this section is disputed.

The name of the band, originally suggested by Nick Evans, was selected by Dresden's members from a long list including Shutterspeed, MHz, Sine, Bipartisan, Chaos Theory, Anabiosis, The Markov Chain, Balkan and Shining Path.

Dresden were described by their record label Ideological Sound as "vapourbeat", a reference to vapourware.
