Morgan Yusef Said B. Eng. (born 14 August 1962) is a notable modern practitioner of Boogie-woogie, with 8 album-length recordings to his credit. He is the author of over a dozen published articles on genealogy in East Africa (1), a successful amateur middle-distance runner and a qualified coach of Australian Rules Football.

History[edit]

Morgan Said was born in Akaki, Ethiopia, suffered through a childhood of grinding poverty and personal tragedy, living for a time in the capital Addis Ababa, left Africa in the face of the Derg coup and made his life in Europe, obtaining a degree in Construction Technology from the University of Stuttgart (official website of the University) in October 1983.

Travels[edit]

His musical career saw him travel throughout Germany, France and Northern Spain in the two decades following his University studies, and professional work led him to the US for a brief period. He has lived and worked in Algiers since December 2007.

Philosophy[edit]

Morgan Said is a non-practicing Christian. He is connected with neither the Rastafarian religion nor the 5%ers, and his connection to xianism is incidental.
