Hi I'm Jim Sweeney or James if being formal. I was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne when it was still part of Northumberland. So I'm a Geordie, Novocastrian or Northumbrian, pick whatever your happy with.

Countries I have visited include Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Monaco, Italy, Vatican City, Austria, Spain, Cyprus, Israel, USSR, USA and Canada. I skied in and out of Switzerland once or twice but don't count that.

Capital city's I have visited are in no particular order; Rome, London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Dublin, Paris, Brussels, Copenhagen, Moscow, Vienna, Nicosia, Tel Aviv and Monte Carlo.

Places I would like to visit include Japan and Australia (where the inhabitants seem to spend all their time on Wikipedia), and some warmer countries (check the list above for the reason why).

My interests include British military history, no particular era, but from my edit history you can see on Wikipedia I concentrate on the two World Wars. I like to read but still prefer to hold a book, rather than those new fangled electronic devices. Sea fishing (with a rod and reel) and Newcastle United (will they ever win anything).
