Dahir Rayale Kahin ([Dahir Rayale Kahin] Error: {{Lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help), Arabic: ضاهر ريالي كاهن) (born 12 March 1952) was the third President of Somaliland, a self-declared republic that is internationally recognized as a part of Somalia. May 3, 2002 the president of Somaliland,Muhammad Haji Ibrahim Egal,died in military hospital, Pretoria in South Africa. After one hour Daahir Rayaale was on oath, into office on May 16, 2003, and he became the president of Somaliland.He chose his vice president, Ahmed Yusuf Yasin, who was a member of the house representatives. After a month the president chose to become the manager of United Democratic People's Party(UDUB). The elections in April 14, 2003, Daahir Rayale won 80 votes of the total votes. Ahmed Mahamoud Silanyofrom Kulmiye Party was just eighty votes behind Dahir Rayaale from [[United Democratic People's Party]]. The five years ended in April 2008; however, the election delayed and the house of elders add him another years. Daahir Rayaale was ruling the country about eight years (April 14, 2003 to June 2010). He held two different elections Parliament and one local election. He has a wife, Huda Barkhad Aadam, and four children: three boys and one girl.

Background[edit]

Dahir Rayaale was born in small town named Qul-Jeed, which occupies the Northwestern Awdal, region of British Somaliland. He was born in 1952. He attended his Islamic School and elementary school in Borama. He graduated from Amoud high School in 1974. After this he moved to the city of the Somali Nation, Mogadishu. When Dahir Rayaale arrived in Mogadishu, he entered Halane School. In 1975, he became part of NSS of the government of Siad Barre. Kahin's previous posts included a diplomatic position at the Somali Embassy in Djibouti, intelligence in the government of former president Mohamed Siad Barre, a stint as governor of Awdal and as a businessman, and a term as vice president of Somaliland (1997–2002). Between the years 1975 to 199, he worked many places like Hargeysa, Berbera, Laascaanood, Burco,and empathy of Djibouti. He was a member of the people who attended the meeting for all Somaliland clans and SNM in Burco. In this meeting, they announced that Somaliland broke away from Somalia. In 1992 he became a governor of the region Awdal while he was a business man. February 23, 1997 the assembly that held in Hargeisa for the clans of Somaliland and they chose the president of Somaliland, Muhammad Haji Ibrahim Egal, and vice president, Daahir Rayaale.

Ethnic Group[edit]

He is from Dudub Jibriil yoonis (SAMAROON) clan from Dudub Jibriil yoonis with Makaahiil, Gadabuursi. The clan Gadabuursi, Samaroon.

Service in the Barre government[edit]

In the last years of the Barre's government, during the 1980s, Kahin was the highest-ranking National Security Service (NSS) officer in Berbera.[3]

JUNE 26, 2011, Dahir Rayaale got the award for build a peace among his people since he was a president.
