Ever took something apart just to put it all back together? If so, you have performed factorization or factoring. Factoring equations simply means to find the greatest each term has in common and use divsion to separate what the terms have in common. Checking to see if you have factored correctly is done by multiplying what you factored out back into the equation or expression. This method is called distributed property. 4yx+24yx^2 Step 1: Find Greatest Common Factor GCF . 4xy Step 2: Divide 4xy by 4xy=1, Divide 4xy by 24yx^2= 6x Factored form is 4xy(6x+1). Check your work 4xy*6x=24yx^2. 4xy*1=4xy 4xy+24yx^2.
