Plot

Ella Sarah Gets Dressed by author and illustrator Margaret Chodos-Irvine is a story about a little girl named Ella Sarah. One morning she woke up and decided she wanted to wear a particular outfit of her choosing. The outfit in which Ella Sarah had in mind was a pink polka dot pants, along with a dress with orange and green flowers, purple and blue stripe socks, yellow shoes and her infamous red hat. Ella was not going to be totally satisfied until she walked out the house with the outfit she had pictured herself wearing. Ella Sarah's parents thought she should wear a totally different outfit instead of what Ella Sarah had in mind. While searching through her closet for the outfit she had in mind, she discovered instead several other outfits in which her parents thought were too dressy to go outside with. Therefore, Ella didn't seem to have any luck in the process in finding her perfect match. However, while she continued to pull out the different outfits out of her closet, her mother suggested a few outfits, but Ella disagreed with her mother. Then came along Ella Sarah's father who suggested a yellow t-shirt and white shorts but unfortunately Ella disagreed with her father as well. Ella kept insisting her original outfit, but both of her parents would continuously say that the outfits of her choosing were too dressy. Ella Sarah was determined that she will stick with her original decision of what she wanted to wear in which was the pink polka dot pants, flower dress, red hat, yellow shoes along with her purple and blue stripe socks. Overall, Ella Sarah concluded that she didn't care whether her parents or anyone else would approve of her outfit. After finally getting dressed, Ella's friends came over to her house along with their unique sense of fashion with their variety of colors, and patterns.
