Gideon Weitzman heads the English speaking department of the Puah Institute and is a Visiting Principal Associate at Albert Einstein College of Medicine[1][2]

Personal background[edit]

Weitzman was born in Leicester, Britain, on 25th July, 1967. {{citation}}: Empty citation (help) His parents are David Weitzman, a biochemist, and Avis Weitzman, nee Galinski. He is the nephew of Professor Lee Segel. He is married to Rivka Kahn.

Professional Bio[edit]

Weitzman studied in Yeshivat Beit El and received Rabbinic ordination from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. He founded a Community Kollel in Overland Park, Kansas City together with Rabbi Morey Schwartz and taught at the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy.

Upon his return to Israel he was appointed as the Head of the English speaking department of the Puah Institute. He is also a Visiting Principal Associate at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. {{citation}}: Empty citation (help)

Weitzman teaches in a number of institutions including Yeshiva University and the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies. He is the Rabbi of the Merkaz Modiin Synagogue in Modiin, Israel.[3]

Weitzman has published papers in the ASRM journal "Fertility and Sterility" on the interface between fertility medicine and Jewish law.[4][5] He has also published three books on the philosophy of Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook
