In The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Earth is the most powerful computer in the universe. It was designed by Deep Thought (the second most powerful computer in the universe,) to find the Ultimate Question - the question of life, the universe and everything - the answer to which is 42.
In real life the Earth is merely the most powerful computer known to humanity. More powerful computers may exist. Wikis are the conscious portion of the computer we call the Earth.
One of the fundamental challenges of managing powerful computers is to control their tendency to overheat.
