From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dark Sky are an electronic music group from London, featuring Carlo Anderson, Matthew Benyayer and Thomas Edwards. The group draws heavily from house, garage and dubstep.

The trio cite garage as their main influence, calling it "an easy sound to get into; It had elements of house, soul and hip hop, which all appealed to us."[1]

Biography

[edit]

Dark Sky formed in London in 2009, initially being a collaboration between The Boogaloo Crew[2] and producer Carlo Anderson. Their interest in creating bass driven electronica stemmed from a collective teenage appreciation of UK garage. Their current sound resembles an experimental sound mix of meandering tech-synth with propelling snares, Night Slugs-esque neon bright melodies and underground 808s.[3]

The group have plans to release two 4 track EPs in 2011. One of these is forthcoming on Black Acre[4] and the other a split 12” with Sbtrkt for Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons[5]. Also forthcoming are two tracks on Blunted Robots, a remix for Ninja Tune and more.
