Overview[edit]

The Dearborn Fire Department provides fire, rescue, hazardous materials response, and emergency medical services for the Cities of Dearborn and Melvindale in southeastern Michigan. The Dearborn Fire Department was established on March 4th, 1908 in the Township of Springwells (would later be part of a merger of cities to form present day Dearborn). Throughout its history the Dearborn Fire Department has seen steady increases in demand for services. Today the Dearborn Fire Department employs 146 full time firefighters, all of whom are also licensed paramedics. The Dearborn Fire Department responded to 16,000 calls for service in 2016.
