Joseph John is an American high school student and is currently in the 10th Grade.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Joseph John was born on May 28, 2002 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Joseph was raised in Vernon Hills and is currently enrolled as a sophomore at Carmel Catholic High School.

Personal Life[edit]

Technology Clubs[edit]

Joseph is involved in his school's broadcast club and is apart of it's Technology Student Internship (TSI) Program. Along with other students, Joseph serves as the primary provider of technical support for his school.

Boy Scouts[edit]

Joseph is currently involved in Boy Scouts and has earned the rank of Life. Joseph has been part of Scouting since 2nd Grade and is working towards becoming an Eagle Scout.

Chicago Sports Fan[edit]

Joseph has been a Chicago sports fan his entire life. He primarily enjoys watching the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs and has been going to Cubs game since he was young.

St. Mary of Vernon Prep[edit]

For the past three years Joseph has been a PREP Assistant Catechist at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church. Joseph has helped with grades 1-2 and has served 70+ hours.

Bernie's Book Bank[edit]

Over the past 4 years Joseph has volunteered at Bernie’s Book Bank numerous times. Bernie’s Book Bank is a programs that brings used books to Children in need of books. Volunteers help package these books for delivery and Joseph has volunteered 18+ hours.

Current Classes[edit]

Technology Student Internship[edit]

In TSI, students will serve as the primary provider of technical support for the school. This hands-on course will provide students with the skills necessary to troubleshoot and repair Chromebook, classroom, and other technical problems, and utilize professional data tracking software. Through TSI, students will gain an understanding of how a help desk functions and how it is used in the school. It may become possible that students can earn certifications such as: CompTIA A+,MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist),and Google Apps Certifications.[1]

Spanish III[edit]

Students learn to exchange information, and maintain simple conversations in Spanish via interpersonal tasks. Students read and comprehend short reading selections and level-appropriate novels. Students improve basic writing skills. Cultural comparisons enable the students to appreciate and understand the uniqueness of other cultures as well as their own.[1]

World History H[edit]

This course is for the above-average student and will significantly challenge even those who excelled in middle school social studies classes. This course surveys the history of the world from the start of the Middle Ages (approximately 500 C.E.) up to the year 2000. Some general concepts that may be studied are the development of governments and law, economic systems, the role of religion in society, and why nations go to war. The interpretation of history, its application to the world, and the analysis of the connections between past, present, and future are among the cognitive skills taught. Emphasis is placed on the study skills of independent reading, critical thinking, note-taking, and interpretive writing.[1]

Chemistry H[edit]

This is a laboratory course designed for students needing a thorough background for further work in science. Course topics include measurement, atomic theory and structure, matter and energy, gas laws, bonding, solutions, acids, bases, pH, redox reactions, nuclear chemistry, organic chemistry, and methods of analysis.[1]

Algebra II H[edit]

The course is for the above-average student taking a second course in algebra. It contains a brief review of Algebra I and progresses to the advanced topics needed for college mathematics. Logical thinking is reinforced through problem solving. Students are introduced to conics through the Cartesian coordinate system. The topics investigated are real and complex numbers, systems of equations and inequalities, determinants, matrices, polynomial functions, and exponential and logarithmic functions. Some basic properties of trigonometry are covered.[1]

Sacraments[edit]

The student explores symbol, ritual, and prayer found within his/her own life, in the Gospels and in the Roman Catholic Tradition with an emphasis on an understanding of the sacramentality of life. The student studies the meaning along with the historical development of the seven sacraments focusing on the continued importance of partaking in the liturgical life of the Church.[1]

English 10 H[edit]

This course, offered to highly motivated and capable students, is designed to enrich reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, discussion, and speaking skills.

Grammar studies are crafted to help students write stronger sentences. Students work on evaluating and synthesizing multiple sources of information and using such sources to strengthen their presentations and essays, citing sources in MLA formatting. Students use close reading, discussion, and analytical writing to examine a variety of multicultural texts, including novels, dramas, short stories, poetry, and nonfiction. Writing assignments and discussion encourage students to consider the role of literature in conveying both the commonalities and diversities of human experience.[1]

Media Production – Video H[edit]

Students will study effective ways of producing high quality video segments. This will include the production of commercials, short informational videos, and short movies. Students will work with Media Production-Audio students to produce these materials. Students will take turns being the face in front of the camera for a monthly clip and highlights show, but will be expected to learn all facets of video production. These students will also produce Carmel events with the help of Introduction to Media Production and will guide that production.[1]
