  • An exhausted and emaciated American Bittern found on the west side of Bryher, Isles of Scilly. Recovered and kept in an avery at Tresco Abbey the skin is now on permanent loan to the Isles of Scilly Museum on St Mary's[2]

  • 6 September – Britain's third Black Kite and the Isles of Scilly's first. Shot on Tresco on 16 September by one of the gamekeepers, and the carcase sent to the British Museum and named as the nomate migrans ref P Robinson 2003.
