Mark Nevin

Mark Nevin is best known as the songwriter and guitarist behind Fairground Attraction. He wrote 13 of 14 songs on the band's Brit Award (best album 1988) winning album 'The First of a Million Kisses' including the pop classic 'Perfect' for which they also received a Brit award (best single 1988).

When the band split up he formed 'Sweetmouth' with Irish singer Brian Kennedy and made an album 'Goodbye to Songtown' which featured 9 songs that would have made up most of the never-to-be second Fairground Attraction album.

He went on to collaborate as a songwriter with Morrissey on 2 albums ('Kill Uncle' and 'Your Arsenal') as well as co-writing 4 top 40 UK singles with him ('Our Frank', 'Sing Your Life', 'Pregnant For The Last Time' and 'My Love Life'). The Morrissey/Nevin song 'I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday' was also covered by David Bowie on his 'Black Tie White Noise' album.

He worked closely as songwriter and guitarist with Kirsty MacColl on her albums 'Electric Landlady' and 'Titanic Days' as well as touring with her live band.

After a period of busying himself as a songwriter in which he wrote songs with Lloyd Cole, Paul Brady, Ringo Starr, Albert Hammond and Carleen Anderson (their song 'Let it Last' reached number 16 on the UK chart), and for, Mary Coughlan, Frances Black, Mica Paris, Julio Iglesias, Curtis Stigers, Brian Kennedy, Eddi Reader and Joe Cocker he focused on making solo albums.
