Dr James Massey is a marine and environmental ecologist and a strategic environmental assessment specialist. He is a Technical Director and Senior Marine Project Manager with Beacon Development Company, a commercial consultancy within King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia, which links environmental impact advisory services and specialist studies with the academic research and knowledge of the University.[1]
He is credited with developing and applying simple techniques in GIS and weighted constraints mapping for application in marine impact assessment and SEA. [2] , [3], [4].
After advising and consulting on major marine projects in the UK and Ireland [5], [6]/, including the offshore industries, Dr Massey has more recently been working in the Middle East.

Dr Massey is employed advising a number of gigaproject developing in the northern Red Sea area associated with the Saudi Vision 2030.
