Gram's Journey (2015)

[edit]

In 2016, Shumate authored and published his first book, a hardbound color-illustrated children’s adventure entitled Blackberry Tails: Gram's Journey and unveiled it at the Paris, Kentucky Art Walk event. Shumate collaborated with friend and internationally exhibited artist L. Clark Uhl, who drew the book's illustrations and structured the layout. Gram’s Journey (ISBN 978-0-692-62559-0) has received a United States Copyright effective January 26, 2016, and is housed in the US Library of Congress. The Kentucky-based story is about a lost puppy, Gram, finding home[6]. Gram is a rescue dog discovered in Bourbon County, KY by Shumate's daughter in 2012 and currently lives with the family.

Blackberry Tails Series

[edit]

Shumate has published two more books in the Blackberry Tails series: Raisin's Odyssey[7] and Elvis' Dream. A fourth book, Pearl's Trek, has been announced[3].

Shumate will attend a number of upcoming book signing events, and you should take the opportunity to meet Mr. Shumate.”[9] The Carlisle Mercury wrote “Authors must compete with latest technology using pen and paper, and Blackberry Tails author C.W. Shumate was up for the challenge.”[6]
