Public toilets
[edit]The local word for public toilet is toilet.[1] There are not many public toilets in the country.[2] A 2021 study found there were seven public toilets per 100,000 people.[3] Brussels had less than five public toilets in open space per 100,000 residents in 2018.[4] There were 175 public toilets in Brussels in 2022, amount to one public toilet per 11,000 residents.[5] Bars and cafes in big cities are the places where the public are most likely to find toilets they can use.[2] The typical charge to use a public toilet is €0,50.[1]
The most common type of toilet is a sit toilet.[1] Western Europe tends to use flush toilets, with some older public toilets possibly having pull cords instead of handles or buttons.[6] Public toilets often have toilet paper.[1]
