Public toilets in Moldova

Public toilets[edit]

The local word for public toilet is toaletă.[1] A 2021 study found there were five public toilets per 100,000 people.[2]

There typically is no charge to use a public toilet.  [1]

The most common type of toilet is a sit toilet.[1]

Public toilets often do not have toilet paper.[1]

Many countries that used to belong to the Soviet Union require payment to an attendant to access.  The money is then used to defray the cost of cleaning and maintenance.  The fee does not go towards providing services in the public toilet.[3]

An issue in developing countries is toilet access in schools.  Only 46% of schools in developing countries have them.[4]
