Think about a hypothetical situation in which you have got a vacation right about now and you are planning to spend it by traveling within the country. Unfortunately, the issues that you will face while doing so will not be as much hypothetical. In case of women travelers, the problem becomes more prominent. Lack of accurate and reliable information just adds more to it. However, proper solution to this does exist in the form of a web portal called TripZip. TripZip is primarily working to provide travel related information and technical support. It is a youth initiative functioning as a service provider of which the founder and Chief Executive Officer is Kanij Fatima.

As an avid traveler herself, Kanij Fatima has experienced the issue of information gap while traveling within the country. Although youths of Bangladesh are interested in traveling, a lot of them back out in the end due to absence of proper information and guidance. Kanij started her venture “TripZip” in 2016 originally from this thought.

TripZip has been started with a social mission to make travel more convenient for groups for whom traveling and exploring has not been always easy owing to various socioeconomic constraints. Hence, it aims to connect, enable and empower youth and special groups at all ends of the tourism industry. In order to facilitate traveling for these groups, it has been organizing a number of events since 2016 such as – Youth Dialogue, Kids’ Camp, Summer Camp, and Women Travelers Campaign. It is also a web portal for hotel/resort, ticket, venue etc. booking. In addition to that, it arranges regular tours for women, backpackers, and children within the country.

Kanij Fatima is also Local President of Junior Chamber International Dhaka North Chapter for 2018. . Apart from these, she is associated with Prothom Alo Bandhushova ,National Executive Board and is a member of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI).

Being a debater from school, Kanij developed a sharp mind and became very perceptive in her ability to read people and situations. She participated in various extra-curricular activities outside her educational institution which included public speaking, anchoring, and debating. Her involvement in MUNs and international youth conferences is extraordinary in nature. In 2011, she participated in AIMUN in Peking University, China as the Head Delegate. In the same year, she attended

GMUN (Global Model United Nations) in South Korea as The Head delegate and represented Ethiopia. She went to Canada for participating in WorldMUN 2012 which was organized by Harvard University, again as the Head Delegate. Kanij also joined CBITMUN 2012 in Hyderabad, India as an Advisor. She selected Ambassador for South Asia at WorldMUN 2013 in Australia which was organized by Harvard University and hosted by Monash University. Finally, she attended HamMUN 2013 as a Chair in Hamburg, Germany in Committee UNEP. For her exceptional co-curricular activities, she achieved the Duke of Edinburgh Award .

Apart from with these strong affiliations, Kanij Fatima has had outstanding performance in her career as an organizer. As an organizer, she has organized different campaigns, Focus Group Discussions, Dialogue Sessions, Seminars, Workshops, Training sessions and more. She has worked with some reputed and well known organizations such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Civil Aviation & Tourism, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Bangladesh Tourism Board, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, United Nations Youth & Student Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB), Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers' Association (BNWLA), Action Aid Bangladesh, BRAC etc.

Currently, Kanij Fatima is affiliated with different social activities as her contribution towards building a better society. She is the Founder of a charity platform named “Grammoshilpo” through which she provides training for handstitched products to rural women and under-privileged adolescents. She also helps them sell their finished handmade goods. Besides, she is involved in different rural development programs such as a nutrition club in a high school of Manikganj that ensures the nutrition requirement of female students and their mothers. Moreover, Kanij is working on the mental health of young girls in cities of Bangladesh. She is also associated with training and awareness program of “Hand wash and Hygiene” for slum-based children.

Since childhood, she had always wanted to pursue unconventional way in her professional life. Her interests revolve around music, movies, reading, traveling, and photography. She has completed a Course of photography from Pathshala Academy simply out of interest. She also holds a Leadership Certificate in Managerial Communication from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka (DU).
