Alexandra Beaton[edit]

Alexandra Beaton (Born December 5, 1994) is a Canadian actress and award winning competitive dancer born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. She has been in both film and television and is most known for her role as "Emily" on the Family Channel show The Next Step.

Personal life[edit]

Beaton grew up outside Claremont, Ontario before moving to Toronto with her family.[1] She began ballet classes at age two, and acting classes at age five, with the hopes of becoming a performer.[2] She grew up alongside her younger sister Sophia, father John, and mother Kate Wheeler, a Canadian newswoman and journalist. Beaton attended high school at Trafalgar Castle School, and currently studies political science at The University of Guelph.[3]

Career[edit]

Beaton danced and acted in the musical Gypsy for the Shaw Festival in Niagara on the Lake as the role of Baby June, and acted alongside Gerard Butler in the movie 300. She is featured in several commercials, including ones for Rogers cell phones, and a Shoppers Drug Mart print campaign. Beaton played the role of Karen in the short film Four Sisters, and was featured on the talk show Katie Chats. Beaton has starred in The Next Step as the role of "Emily" since its television debut in March 2013, garnering the largest premiere audience of any series on the Family Channel.[1]
