{{Multiple issues|wikify=July 2010|copyedit=July 2010|rewrite=July 2010|notability=July 2010|unreferenced=July 2010}} Merwin Hulbert and company,was and is a firearms company,which went out of buisness in 1891,and recently was recreated.It was probably the forth,perhaps third,best selling revolver in the american old west,with Smith and Wesson's model 3 the first,Colt's model 1873 single action army,and Remington's model 1875 perhaps third,if not behind Merwin Hulbert and co. at fourth.Merwin hulbert was recreated recently,and produces or will soon produce their revolvers once again.Somewhat few people know about this company,perhaps due to the fact that it was not seen in western movies often if at all,probably not at all,and not much is to be read about the company.One of it's characteristics is the mechanism for unloading.To load,a loading gate is used,similar to the Colt single action army and single action army style recolvers,and Nagant m1895 revolvers.To unload fired cases or to unload for storage and such,the gun's operator holds the barrel,a button on the bottom of the frame is pressed while the operator holds the hand grips,and tilts the barrel right,then the barrel,cylinder,and piece of the frame in front of the cylinder,ant top-strap,if one is present (there were open top models),are slid forward,possibly to a point where only empty cases fall out,the longer full cartridges,if present,remain.the frame is then closed,if reloading of spent rounds is desired,the loading gate would be used.
