Aloy Deb Barma[edit]

Aloy Deb Barma আলয় দেব বর্মা (born April 24, 1995) is an Indian filmmaker and film scholar. Aloy is originally from Agartala, Tripura mostly associated with Kokborok and Bengali Cinema. He pursued film and video production in Tripura University and film studies in Jadavpur University.[1] His work 'Dhushor Borno' (2022) is a film of a neorealist tradition in the history of cinema in Tripura.[2]

Personal life[edit]

Aloy Deb Barma was born on April 24, 1995, in Agartala, Tripura. He did his schooling from Shishu Bihar Higher Secondary School and higher secondary education from Montfort Higher Secondary School. While studying at college, he was involved in the theatre society through National School of Drama. Initially, he worked as an intern in Doordarshan Kendra, Agartala. Soon after, he developed strive for cinema and decided to move Kolkata for pursuing film studies in Jadavpur Univerisity.[3]

Career[edit]

While doing theatres Aloy worked as a director for Barma Productions. Late in 2018 he got a break and started his Tollywood career as an associate or assistant director on a number of Tollywood films. Aloy started his career in Tripura as an assistant director working under Tarun Majumdar for a short film "Tobu Mone Rekho".[4]
