Erkenov Khousein[edit]


Khousein Erkenov Salavatovich (3.03.1960, Uzbekistan) - Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter, producer. Member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia. Member of the Guild of Film Directors of Russia, Honored Artist of Karachay-Cherkessia.

Biography[edit]

Graduated from one of the largest film institutes in the world - VGIK with a red diploma(workshop Gerasimov). Shot 8 full-length feature films that participated in major international film festivals.

Staged the play "The Stairwell"(that was banned in Russia afterwards) based on the play of the famous playwright L. Petrushevskaya.

Later in the USSR, and then in Russia, his other films were banned. Directed the political program "Dolls" on NTV television, which was also banned in Russia.

Supports the Ukrainian army in the fight against the unrecognized political formations of the south-east of Ukraine. Condemns the accession of the Crimea to the Russian Federation and the policy of Vladimir Putin as a whole.
