The 2012 European windstorm season began on January 1 and will end on December 31, 2012. On average, 130 windstorms form each year. At the beginning of the season, four storms from 2011 were active–Robert, Sebastian, Tilo and Ulli.[1] For the first time since December 2011, the North Atlantic Oscillation had turned positive.
Storm names[edit]
Storms are officially named by the Free University of Berlin, and the names are donated by the public. There are six lists of names, however, as of January 19, not all lists are complete, so only list one is shown. This year, female names are used. The next name that will be used is Lucina.
