ZOMBILLENNIUM, DE FILM. In november verschijnt bij Dupuis (voorlopig vooreerst in het Frans) deel 3 van de heerlijke horrorkomedie Zombillennium. De pauze tussen deel 2 en 3 kwam door diverse tekenfilmprojecten van tekenaar Arthur de Pins. Een ervan is een stereoscopische 3D-tekenfilmversie van Zombillennium. De release is gepland voor 2015 en heeft een budget nodig van 9 miljoen euro.

GRID ANIMATION Slechts twee beeldjes uit een animatieproject van Suske en Wiske weten ons alvast te overtuigen. Deels verantwoordelijk voor de productie is het Gentse Grid Animation, zopas nog uitgeroepen tot Europese animatieproducent van het jaar. Zij werken aan een reeks rond Junior Suske en Wiske, de kleuterversies van het bekendste Vlaamse stripduo.

Het plan is een 52-delige reeks van telkens zeven minuten. Momenteel bestaat er van het project enkel een trailer die de internationale markt moet overtuigen. In eigen land zijn er onderhandelingen met zowel de VRT als vtm. De eigenlijke productie zou pas midden 2015 gebeuren, wanneer ook de dure financiering rond moet zijn.

Internationaal wordt de serie voorgesteld als Little Luke and Lucy. Grid Animations werkt hiervoor samen met het Belgische Santeboetiek en het Luxemburgse Fabrique d'Images.

De strips van Junior Suske en Wiske, met daarin gags en kortverhalen, vormen in beperkte mate de basis voor de 3D-geanimeerde filmpjes. Mark Mertens van Grid Animation: "We gaan verder dan de boekjes en voegen zelf verhaallijnen toe".

Momenteel neemt bij Grid Animation een andere prestigieuze stripadaptatie waar het bedrijf aan meehelpt vaste vorm aan: een animatiefilm naar het Asterix-album De Romeinse Lusthof die in 2014 uitkomt. Het scenario van deze film komt van Alexandre Astier, de bedenker van Kaamelott. Louis Clichy, een oudgediende van Pixar als animator voor de films Up en Wall•E, is de regisseur.

Een ander project waar Grid Animation, samen met het Belgische AT-Anim en het Luxemburgse Calach Films, bij betrokken is, is een 3D-geanimeerde tekenfilmserie van The Scrameustache, oftewel De Katamarom naar de Belgische stripserie van Gos en zijn zoon Walt. De tekenfilmserie moet 26 afleveringen van elk dertien minuten opleveren.
