Gursharan Preet Kaur[edit]

Gursharan Preet Kaur (born March 13, 1981) is an Indian freestyle wrestler. In December 2019, she won her first international gold medal at the South Asian Games (SAG), Janakpur, Nepal, in the 76kg category. Kaur is a sub-inspector in the Department of Police, Punjab, India.[1]

Early life[edit]

Gursharan was born on March 13, 1981 in Mohanpur village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. She originally specialized in hammer throw, however, her interest in wrestling grew during her Punjab Police training when she was asked to wrestle Sonika Kaliraman at an open event in Jalandhar in 2000.[2]
