Early Life

Born Kurt Lord on April 16, 1989. One of 4 siblings being the only brother of 3 sisters. Sometime around 2004, Kurt's mother moved the family to Lexington, Kentucky, to live with her father, James Lord, but around 2006 she became ill and feared her son might become an orphan. She introduced him to Eli Jordon, an athletic trainer at the track where she worked, who immediately noticed Kurt's small size. At 14, Kurt became a jockey and changed his name to Kurt Nigel Lord, in honor of his grandfather.
