Clay Jenson

Clay Jenson is a protagonist on the story the 13 Reasons Why that takes place in San Luis Obispo California. The book the 13 Reasons Why is about a girl named Hannah Baker who commits suicide and sends out 13 tapes about people and how they influenced her to commit suicide. The tapes were initially mailed to one classmate with instructions to pass them from one student to another, in the style of a chain letter, starting from the one involved in the first story to the last. On the tapes, Hannah explains to twelve people how they played a role in her death, by giving thirteen reasons explaining why she took her life. So everyone basically gets their own tape that explains why Hannah killed herself while, Clay is thinking about how he was there for her and she pushed him away. He just wants to find out why he is involved in this, but he cannot skip to his specific tapes because they are not labeled by names, also because she made rules stating no one can skip tapes if the people on the tapes that if they do not pass them on, the second set of tapes she has will be leaked to everybody.
