THAI CAT


Thai cats are cats that originate in Thailand. Thai cats are intelligent, independent, and self-confident and they love home and their owners. In 1984, King Chulalongkorn, gave a pair of Thai cats to British Consul General, Owen Gould, who won the London Cat Contest. Since then Thai cats have become more popular. They have become throughout the world. And Vicheanmas cats are known in English as Siamese cat (Siam cat). These are personal characteristics that make them different from other cats.



1. Gonja (meaning in Thai: cranes)

Distinctive characters This breed is similar to Bomb Bay cats. They have short black hair, round face which is not too big, big ears, yellow greenish eyes, long tails, and pointed ears.



2. Ninrat (meaning in Thai: Black Spinel)

(Extinct)

Distinctive characters The cat has completely shiny black hair. In addition, the nail, tongue, teeth and eyes are also black with a slender tail.



3. wilas (meaning in Thai: Beautiful)

(Extinct) Distinctive characters The cat has almost black except for two ears , chest, and from the occiput on the back to the end of the tail is white, They have a long tail, dark eyes and Beautiful shape.



4.Gowtam (meaning in Thai : 9 marks)

(Extinct)

Distinctive characters The cat’s body is white with nine black marks. The nine marks are on the head, neck, thigh, front, and back legs, shoulders, and the base of the tail. These marks are circular shape. Ancient Thai people usually kept this type of cat in the royal court.



5.Ratanakampon

(Currently it is rare to find purebred) Distinctive characters Their fur is as white as a conch, except the middle of the body that has black color around.



6. Ninchak (meaning in Thai: Black colour)

(Extinct)

Distinctive characters The cat is black and its neck has a white band around like wearing a chisel or a necklace.



7.Mulila

(Extinct)

Distinctive characters This breed has smooth black hair, but the two ears are white. Their eyes are yellow.



8.Grobwan or Arnma (Grobwan means glasses and Arnma means saddle)

(Extinct) Distinctive characters The cat’s body is white, except the middle of the back which is black and looks like a saddle. There are black circles around both eyes, making them look like wearing glasses.



9.Patsaweit or Patthalod (meaning in Thai: the cat that has white color from head to tail)

Distinctive characters This type of cat has smooth black hair. The tip of the nose is white. It has yellow glittering eyes.



10.Krachok

(Extinct) Distinctive characters This type has short-haired black coat with white hair around the nose. The head is not very large. It has yellow eyes. The tail is pointed straight, big and gradually tapered to the end.



11.Singsap

(Extinct) Distinctive characters This cat has black hair, but there is white color around the lips, nose and neck. The size is not very large. It has large ears which are prominent on the head. Eyes are yellow. It has a long tail pointed straight. The tail is big and gradually tapered to the end.



12.Karawak

(Extinct) Distinctive characters This is another type of black cat, but not all black. The nose is slightly white. Both eyes are bright in amber.



13.Jatubod (meaning in Thai : Quadruped)


(Extinct) Distinctive characters This breed has a black body and the toes, up to the four crooks, are white. The eyes are yellow like a Sesbania flower.



14.Samsawat


Distinctive characters This cat has black hair mixed with white. It has slim shape. The eyes are green like fireflies.
