Laurie Foston is the pen name for American author/illustrator Cheryl Haynes. She has also published under the name Cheryl Hodgetts Parker and Cheryl Henry Hodgetts.

She is the creator of the character of the series, Leon the Chameleoncopyright number Txu-100-765 which is translated in Spanish Leon el Camaleón]as well as Leon's Jungle Friends.She also has three other sequels to Leon. Her latest work is a series of science fiction novels.

Her most recent work is, The Coming of the Magi is also available internationally in Italy, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom. Laurie Foston is the pen name Cheryl used for this science fiction series. Cheryl says the plot of the story is woven so that the star of the story, named Laurie Foston, publishes a book in the 21st century containing a journal of her travel back in time to the eighteenth century. She says she wanted to authenticate the plot a little more by using the star's name as pseudonym. Cheryl also has written shorts for Amazon.com.

She created a website for the Leon the Chameleon series and also published other stories for children on the Internet. The interesting aspect of her illustrations on the Internet are that they are enhanced with gifs so that the pictures appear to have motion. This makes them a delight for young children to enjoy.

Her type of literature features self-improvement and teaches self-values to children. She says this should be a free service to the public and stays dedicated to servicing the web sites so that children from all walks of life will have free access to the stories and their animated illustrations.

She is the editor of the non-profit, web-based think tank, Authors' Crossroad which was organized for authors and booksellers to collaborate.

Cheryl's children's stories were copyrighted in 1982 and the rights for the stories and illustrations were released to a site in Jerusalem that translated the stories into Hebrew and posted them on a site that teaches morals for children.

Cheryl resides in Southaven, Ms which is a suburb of the Memphis Metro area, almost directly across the street from the house which John Grisham lived before his career blossomed. She says she didn't live there when he did but hopes that area will be as propitious for her as it was for him.

Cheryl is a beauty pageant judge for America's Most Beautiful Girls and is a member of the American Council of the Blind. She is a contributing editor of Wikipedia.

Future novels in the works are sequels to The Next Phase Chronicles,The Coming of the Magi and the second book of that series is titled, The Missing Page. The release date is not yet known.
