User:Lazman321/Source check/Face to Face

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For my GA review, I'll be checking 25 random sources on "Face to Face (Daft Punk song)". Lazman321 (talk) 04:44, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

Okay finished. Lazman321 (talk) 04:55, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
  1. [28] - Doesn't mention Cédric Hervet.
I found this article by LatinAmerican Post which mentions Hervet, would be sufficient?
Eh, that source looks dubious, especially since the author is pseudonymous. Here's a better source: [1]. Lazman321 (talk) 03:25, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
  1. [6] - Neither source mentions Foreigner advice being from the second trip.
From The Guardian: "...he ended up co-writing and singing “like the guy from Foreigner” on Face to Face, a fantastic melding of Edwards’ signature style with the duo’s glossy machine disco."
@Reppop: No, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm saying the source doesn't mention this being said during the second trip to Paris. I recommend using the Quietus source, as that one actually does mention the quote being from the second trip. Lazman321 (talk) 03:25, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
Added to sentence.
  1. [14] - Pass
  2. [3] - First use: Pass. Second use: While Edwards does mention working in Bangalter's home studio, he did not mention being flown to Paris twice. Third use: Pass.
I think the Paris thing should be solved with the Quietus article now?
  1. [12] - Pass
  2. [34] - The year range is not mentioned in either source. Could easily be resolved by adding the MusicRadar source.
Added MusicRadar source to it.
  1. [24] - First use: Pass. Second use: Pass.
  2. [37] - First use: Pass. Second use: Pass. (Used Discogs to verify this one)
  3. [25] - Pass
  4. [13] - Pass
  5. [15] - Pass
  6. [31] - Probably should specify that that the author was discussing the Cosmo Vitelli remix
Added.
  1. [29] - AGF
  2. [36] - Pass
  3. [22] - Pass
  4. [19] - Pass
  5. [21] - First use: There appears to be release year discrepency; LA Times says 2004 while the article says 2003. Maybe LA Times was referring to when the song entered the charts, but I recommend finding a source to verify the year. Second use: The specific dates are not mentioned in the source.
Added Billboard charting on that day and rewrote a bit of it to only include the peak date. Added another article that says it was released in October 2003.
@Reppop: That source also looks dubious. I'd suggest just using the liner notes to verify the date. Lazman321 (talk) 01:11, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
Done.
  1. [7] - First use: Doesn't mention the double-layering effect, and the quote seems dubious; I can't find it in the linked article. Second use: Pass. Third use: Pass.
Quote is from Mixmag and attributed to Pitchfork (I couldn't find it on the actual article which is why I attribute Mixmag): "Bangalter once told Pitchfork: 'Todd Edwards sings sometimes but not like that. I think we were all very excited and surprised by the way he could sing this song.'" The layering effect part was added before but attributed to a Twitch stream, so I could remove it as unsourced.
  1. [26] - Pass
  2. [2] - First use: Pass. Second use: Pass.
  3. [20] - "It Keeps You Runnin'" and "The Letter" are not mentioned.
Removed per 3b.
  1. [10] - Pass, though I wonder if it's even necessary.
  2. [5] - Same issue as [6].
From Pitchfork: "The direction Daft Punk gave Todd Edwards for his vocals while recording Discovery's 'Face to Face': 'Can you sing a little raspier, like Foreigner?'"
  1. [11] - Pass
  2. [16] - Pass
