Melissa Miles McCarter was born 1975 and is an American writer of non-fiction and fiction. Her newly released memoir Insanity: A Love Story, chronicles her experiences with bipolar disorder, published by Fat Daddy's Farm. "Insanity" not only details her experiences with mental illness while confined to a hospital, but also her initial diagnosis of bipolar disorder. McCarter is married to fellow writer and academic William Matthew McCarter and lives in Ironton, Missouri. She is currently researching postfeminism and its function within rhetoric and composition.
