Guitar Concerto (Villa-Lobos)[edit]
The Guitar Concerto (originally called “Fantasia Concertante”) is a piece written for guitar and small orchestra by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos. This work was dedicated to Andres Segovia. It was premiered by Segovia along with the Houston Symphony Orchestra on February 6, 1951, with the composer conducting.[1] Although the concerto is not widely studied, it is considered one of the most important works for classical guitar.[2]
Movements[edit]
The piece is divided into three movements[3]:
1. Allegro preciso
2. Andantino e andante: Cadenza
3. Allegretto non troppo
The first and last movements are in A minor, the second movement is in G major.
