BOYANCI WINE is the creation of wine industry veterans Kevin BOYer and Tom SteffANCI. The BOYANCI (buoyancy) project focuses on the ultimate goal of creating world-class Napa Valley wines while giving back to those less fortunate, or being "buoyant" to others.

THE WINES: Beginning with the 2006 BOYANCI Red Blend, BOYANCI's goal is to create site-specific Napa Valley wines expressing the embodiment of Napa Valley fruit and extraction with a Bordeaux-like elegance. The main vineyards for BOYANCI red blend are located in the famed Pritchard Hill area, one of the most sought after areas high atop the Eastern Napa Mountains. BOYANCI launched its second wine in the 2007 vintage with InSpire Cabernet Sauvignon. Appropriately termed the "rebellious" son of BOYANCI, InSpire is sourced from vineyards all across Napa Valley, both mountain and valleyside to create a big, bold wine with delicate and refined tannins. InSpire is meant to be enjoyed in its youth but will certainly benefit from long term aging.

THE WINEMAKER: Mia Klein is one of the most award-winning and sought after winemakers in Napa Valley over the past two decades, starting her career with the iconic Chappellet winery and working over the years on such projects such as Dalla Valle, Araujo Estate, Viader, Spottwoode and others. Mia also owns her own iconic label, named Selene which produces world class, site specific Napa Valley wines.

THE FOUNDERS: Kevin Boyer and Tom Steffanci met in Napa Valley of all places during a boring corporate meeting. Tom was actually the bureaucrat that called the meeting Kevin was attending. We managed to visit a few wineries after the event and talked tirelessly about the wines that blew our minds, those we hated and the ones we would make someday if we got the chance. We also talked about what we wanted to do to make a difference and how we each thought we might be able to do something meaningful. In April of 2009 we released our first ever vintage, the 2006 BOYANCI Red Blend.

Kevin Boyer started his career in the restaurant business as a Sommelier for private country clubs in his home state of New Hampshire. In January of 1998, he joined the budding fine dining restaurant team being assembled at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida specifically at the Artist Point restaraunt at Wilderness Lodge. With a world class wine and education team and program being assembled with help from the Court of Master Sommeliers, Kevin blossomed quickly, soon realizing that wine would be the path he would follow for the rest of his career. Kevin joined Ruth's Chris Steak House in 2001 in various roles and responsibilities but quickly advanced to Vice President of Beverage for the company, becoming responsible for managing global beverage sales and setting up all company beverage programs, lists and initiatives. Kevin left Ruth's Chris Steak House in October of 2008 to follow the BOYANCI dream full time.

Tom Steffanci started his career after college working for a local beer distributor in Southern California, very quickly working his way up to the top of the distributor chain and working closely with Pete Coors himself near Golden, CO. Tom left the beer business to take an executive role with Diageo Spirits and managed multiple profiles and brands for the company. Tom's first entry into the fine wine arena came when he accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer for Terlato Wines, one of the world's leading fine wine marketers and importers. Tom quickly immersed himself in the world of wine and knew he had found his life long passion; to create, enjoy and share the best wines in the world.

GIVING BACK: BOYANCI's first non-profit partner is Coprodeli, an organization helping with basic life needs and services in the most impoverished areas of Peru. Specifically, Coprodeli runs orphanages and schools to help foster the children of the area in the hopes that they will move on to a better life. Coprodeli also offers food, clothing and basic life needs to the ravaged areas of Pachacutec, Ica, Chinca and countless others. BOYANCI gives 10 percent of all company profits as well as a great deal of time, leading a group of volunteers down to Peru yearly to work hands on in with the wonderful people of Peru.
