Romeo Charles Toogood (1902-1966) was an Irish artist. Born in Belfast, Toogood attended the Belfast School of Art and subsequently the Royal College of Art in London. Upon returning to Belfast in 1930 he joined the Ulster Unit, a collective arts experiment modelled on Unit One, a London-based grouping of British Modernist artists founded by Paul Nash. Other members of the Ulster Unit at this time included Colin Middleton, John Luke, and George McCann. Toogood taught at various high schools and institutes including the Belfast College of Art where his students included Terence Flanagan and Basil Blackshaw.[1]
